The new 5.6 km section of the Tvrdošín bypass will relieve the city of transit traffic and increase the safety and flow of road traffic. The bridge over the Orava River is designed as pre-stressed concrete bridge with two spans of 88.0 m. The lower structure was formed by two bridge abutments and one pier with a round shaped cross-section. Once completed, work began on the hammerhead using Large-area formwork Top50 and Load-bearing tower Staxo100. For the upper structure a pair of Cantilever Forming Travellers symmetrically constructed the two cantilevers in opposing directions. For the actual shifting, the upper formwork has to be folded down and part of the wall formwork has to be temporarily disconnected. After disconnecing of the formwork, this free space must be filled with a waling to maintain the stability of the entire formwork.
Another interesting solution was the design of the internal formwork, which must adapt smoothly to the widening chamber of the cross-section.
